Definitions
- Average section sizes are reflective of classes with a course type "Lecture" or "Lecture and Activity". Internships, practica, private instruction, student teaching, seminars, web courses, thesis/dissertation courses, among others are excluded.
- Course sections taught by allocated faculty are reported in the department/college to which those faculty belong. For example, a UNIV 101 course taught by Economics faculty will be included in the Economics Department's average course size. Courses taught by non-allocated faculty are reported in the department offering the course.
- For courses wherein multiple sections meet together for a lecture but separately for labs (e.g., CHEM 105), sections are combined into a single 'parent' class if lectures are taught at the same time and in the same location.
